CITY GUIDE SEDONA

Sedona is a beautiful city that oozes positive energy. Surrounded by red rock buttes and high-sided canyons, the city has inspired artists for decades and New Age types have flocked here to experience the power of region’s reputed vortexes. Experience it all: request a private jet charter quote from Air Charter Service.

Sedona and its surroundings encompass the very best of Arizona, from red rock formations and yawning canyons to the distinct Western culture. We love the fact that the natural world is so close, yet there is plenty to do for urban-dwellers who love a city with a charming, small-town feel.

One of the region’s most popular pastimes is hiking through the canyons, between sandstone formations and along picturesque waterways. The relatively easy trails that loop around Red Rock State Park are a great place to break in your walking shoes – five miles of interconnected family-friendly trails lead along Oak Creek, across ridges and up to Eagle’s Nest, the park’s highest point. Closer to town is the short but steep Cathedral Rock Trail, which takes you to the base of Sedona’s most iconic natural landmark. Head north from town and you’ll reach the popular West Fork Trail, a relatively easy hike through wildflower meadows, between towering canyon cliffs and across Oak Creek. On your way back into town, stop at the Slide Rock State Park to swim in the creek’s refreshing waters.

Aside from its natural beauty, Sedona is known for its vortexes (it’s not vortices here in Sedona) – centres within the earth that are alive with energy and thought to have healing powers. It’s widely believed that there are four main sites around the city, with the nearest and busiest being the Airport Vortex. After a steep hike, upon reaching the top you’ll be rewarded with truly breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscapes.

Aside from hiking and vortexes, there’s much to see and do in the city itself. Head south to visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a Roman Catholic chapel built into a red-rock butte where you can worship or just enjoy the far-reaching vistas. If shopping is your preferred activity, visit the Mexican-inspired Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, where you can browse over 40 shops and galleries selling modern art, authentic western fashions and handmade jewellery.

The city is served by the relatively small Sedona Airport, which is solely for the use of private and charter aircraft; Flagstaff Pullium Airport is just a 40-minute drive away and the journey through the Oak Creek Canyon is certainly a scenic one.

Salzburg is served by Salzburg Airport, the country’s second-largest international airfield. Simply contact one of our team and we can arrange everything you need to charter a private jet to Sedona, Arizona.
