Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport opened in 1923, and has recently gone through a number of infrastructure improvements. The airport is a dual use cargo and passenger terminal, primarily for domestic and regional flights. It is located 13 km west of the central Shanghai, making it closer to city than Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The airport is connected to the city via train and metro, along with road connections. The airport has two terminals and two runways. It can handle most modern aircraft with the exception of larger wide bodies such as the Airbus A380 or the Antonov An-225.
