The airport originally opened as a defensive base during the World War Two. The airport serves both passengers and cargo aircraft. The airport has two runways and a small passenger terminal, which features a number of basic facilities including a café. Adjacent to the terminal building is a small cargo terminal for processing cargo aircraft which use the airport.
