Located in the Tasman Sea, Lord Howe Island is a small crescent-shaped volcanic island served by Lord Howe Island Airport. This is the only airport on the island and it acts as an important transit and refuelling hub for many smaller aircraft flying between Australia, New Zealand and any of the other islands in between. The airport has a single runway which measures 2,907 feet in length. There is a small terminal for passengers which comprises of a small departure area and basic facilities.
