BOMBARDIER CHALLENGER 3500

BOMBARDIER CHALLENGER 3500

  • Passengers 9

Blending modern technology and sustainable design, the award-winning Challenger 3500 offers the ultimate combination of range, speed, field performance and reliability.

About this aircraft

  • Taking over from the Challenger 350, the first Challenger 3500 was delivered to entertainment entrepreneur Les Goldberg in 2022.
  • The aircraft is typically configured to seat eight or nine passengers, or 10 if the rear lavatory is used as an extra seat.
  • It can complete non-stop flights like Los Angeles to Honolulu and London to Dubai.
  • The baggage hold has space for around 12 suitcases.
  • The aircraft’s innovative design earned it “Red Dot” and “Grands Prix du Design” awards in 2022.

The Challenger 3500’s eco-friendly design gives it one of the lowest operating costs in its class. The aircraft was designed to compete with the Embraer Praetor 500 and 600, Cessna Citation Longitude and Gulfstream G280.

Interior design

An award-winning cabin maximises productivity and comfort on the Challenger 3500, with advanced sound insulation, a widest-in-class flat floor and ‘zero-gravity’ seats.

The aircraft usually seats up to eight passengers in two club suites. Alternative layouts include a nine-seat option with a club suite, aft lounge suite and three-seat divan. There’s a galley at the front and an enclosed lavatory at the rear that can be used as an extra seat.

Passenger comfort is at the forefront of the 3500’s interior, which boasts reduced cabin-altitude pressure and the first voice-controlled cabin for managing lighting, temperature and entertainment.

Below are two examples of typical configurations found on a Challenger 3500.

  • The baggage compartment is accessible at all times during a flight.

Technological features

The Challenger 3500 is powered by two Honeywell HTF7350 turbofans, providing 7,323 lbs of thrust and an impressive top speed of Mach 0.83.

Inside, the aircraft has one of the best-equipped cockpits in its class. It boasts more baseline equipment than the competition, including a standard autothrottle system, available head-up display with enhanced vision system, advanced avionics suite with four large displays, dual flight management system with LPV and RNP approach capabilities, synthetic vision system, MultiScan™ weather radar, dual inertial reference system and dual SBAS/WAAS GPS.

History

Launched in 2021 as a more sustainable upgrade of the Challenger 350, the Challenger 3500 is the first super-midsize business jet with an environmental product declaration, documenting key factors like CO2 emissions, noise levels and water consumption. Customers can also choose from a selection of sustainable materials for the cabin.

In 2022, the aircraft was named “Best of the Best” for product design at the Red Dot Awards and Grands Prix du Design’s “Grand Winner” in the Industrial Design/Automotive & Transportation category.
