Rerouting a sports team with Covid-19 case
In November 2021, we were asked to urgently reroute an international sports team when a player tested positive for Covid-19.
We’d originally chartered a Boeing B737-800 to transport the 150 players, sponsors and delegates on one round-trip charter from Austria via France and Germany; but after travelling with the rest of the group on the outbound leg, the remaining players now needed a separate aircraft for the inbound journey. With under 24 hours until departure, it was a race against the clock to find an alternative solution in time.
Our Solution
Players: Austria > France > Germany > Austria
Rest of group: Austria > France > Austria
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800, Bombardier Dash 8
We quickly sourced a budget-friendly Bombardier Dash 8 that was available at short notice to fly the 35 team-mates on to Germany and Austria as planned, ensuring there was enough space onboard for social distancing with spare seats between passengers. The Boeing 737-800 we’d originally booked was then re-routed to take the rest of the group straight back to Austria.
