PPE shortage, Lebanon

A client working with the UK government’s Department for International Development asked us to help transport urgently needed PPE to Lebanon, after an ammonium nitrate explosion devastated Beirut in August 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. With travel restrictions in place and ever-changing packing lists amidst the chaos of Lebanon’s humanitarian crisis, we needed to find a flexible solution that could be easily adapted to fit several potential scenarios.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Luton > Istanbul > Beirut

Aircraft: Airbus A300-600F

We worked closely with the client to understand their requirements, allowing us to come up with a viable solution without a final packing list. They wanted to transport the cargo on wooden skids to ease handling in Beirut, so we needed a larger aircraft than we’d usually use for a consignment of this size. Our expert team sourced an Airbus A300-600F and recommended departing from Luton Airport, where the aircraft was based, which made the charter as cost-effective as possible. Once this was all confirmed, we secured the necessary permits for the flight to go ahead.

THE FINER DETAILS

Unrivalled Experience: We arranged for the client to be present at the departure airport so they could supervise the loading of the cargo and watch the aircraft take off.
