We stepped in to help fly mining equipment to a site in Africa where it was needed to continue production.

Moving a large piece of mining equipment to a remote African location

A freight forwarder got in touch with us requiring a six-metre mining piece to be moved to a remote site in Africa, where it was needed to continue production. We had to work quickly to accommodate this time-sensitive request, as there was a risk of the whole mining operation being interrupted.

Our Solution

Route: Europe > Africa

Aircraft: Antonov AN-26

We needed a cost-effective solution and an aircraft with rear-loading capabilities that could accommodate the shape and weight of the heavy outsize cargo. Our experts quickly sourced an Antonov AN-26 with an internal crane, that was ideal for the job.

As the original airport we’d considered had no slots free around the expected departure date we also suggested an alternative that suited the client’s schedule.

The Finer Details

Industry relationships: Our close relationships with local operators came in useful when obtaining the necessary permits before the flight.
