We were tasked with arranging a ‘go-now’ charter before the storm hit the Caribbean island in July 2024.

Helping holidaymakers avoid a hurricane in Jamaica

A high-net-worth client holidaying with his family in Jamaica needed our help leaving the island before Hurricane Beryl hit in July 2024. With widespread airport closures and flight cancellations disrupting commercial travel as the storm passed through the Caribbean, we set about arranging a ‘go-now’ charter to get them in the air.

Our Solution

Route: Kingston > Nassau

Aircraft: Hawker 800XP

With few operators meeting the insurance requirements to operate in Jamaica, charter aircraft were in short supply as the hurricane approached. Undeterred, we leveraged our industry relationships to source a midsize jet for the seven passengers and their luggage, before working to secure a last-minute landing permit for the same-day charter.

The family initially planned to travel straight home to Miami, but later decided to continue their holiday in the Bahamas instead. Despite the short notice, we worked with the operator to accommodate the change in destination without disrupting the timings of the flight.

The family enjoyed dinner in the private terminal at Montego Bay as the aircraft repositioned from Florida. The crew ensured a fast turnaround once it had landed, refuelling and loading the luggage before the passengers were welcomed onboard for their flight to the Bahamas.

The Finer Details

Rapid Response: We found a charter solution for this urgent request within three hours of the client’s call coming in.

Unrivalled Flexibility: The client appreciated the convenience of being able to change destination at short notice.

24/7 Communication: We stayed in constant contact with the operator and updated the client regularly on the aircraft’s position.
